Yugamae was the third step of Kyujutsu, readying the bow. The archer had already aligned the body, dozukuri, so he placed his left hand in the proper grip on the bowstave, then placed the arrow and gripped the bowstring with his right hand. Finally he turned his head to face the target. He was now prepared to draw, uchiokoshi. [1]
