Yoritomo Sakuma was a courtier and merchant of the Mantis Clan. He was considered a bully due to his methods during trade meetings. [1]

Sakuma was member of a powerful branch of the Yoritomo family. He was appointed in the Colonies. [2]
Banished from the Second City[]
In 1199 during the Mantis-Crane War in the Colonies Sakuma was summoned by the Imperial Governor of the Colonies Otomo Suikihime. She was alongside the Ivory Champion Shinjo Tselu, Doji Rengetsu, and Kitsuki Jakuei. The Governor had ordered to cease the Mantis strikes against the Crane until the Kitsuki finished an investigation on the matter. As the order was countermanding the judgment of the Emerald Champion, the Mantis did not stop. For their defiance, any member of the Mantis was banished from the Second City. [2]
Death[]
Sakuma traveled the Ki-Rin's Path, arriving to Journey's End Keep, where he met the commander of the Ninth Imperial Legion. He accused that Otomo Suikihime used legally suspect rulings to counter the will of the Empress. During the discussion Sakuma punched the ronin advisor of the Emerald Champion, Fukuzo, in the throat, and he was beheaded on the spot by Kinto. [3] Sakuma's outburst was most probably driven by the influx of P'an Ku.
