Yogo Mamoru was the Mamoru district's governor.

Karo Edit

Mamoru was the karo to Shosuro Yunaki, a corrupted District Governor of Otosan Uchi. Yunaki wished his daughter Shosuro Meiyoko did not follow the same path, and entrusted Mamoru to keep her in the ignorance. [1]

Meiyoko's Karo Edit

When in 1122 Yunaki died and Meiyoko was appointed the new governor of the Meiyoko district she maintained Mamoru as her karo. He was fiercely loyal to Meiyoko and taught the young girl to be self-reliant. [2]

Scorpion Coup Edit

Meiyoko was unaware of the Scorpion Coup devised by her clan, and the district was handled to Bayushi Shoju by Bayushi Yashino. She was convinced to be quiet by the chief advisor of the Tsai district, Bayushi Komei. In the fifth day she foresaw the demise of the Coup and her clan, so Meiyoko and Mamoru escaped toward the Maze of Wisdom, where they encountered Yashino. Meiyoko's life was saved by the appearance of Doji Isamu, who struck down Yashino. They fled, never to return to Otosan Uchi. [3] Shortly after the coronation of Hantei XXXIX in 1123, Mamoru had Meiyoko assassinated and assumed the governorship himself, with the approval of the Empress Bayushi Kachiko. [4]

Governor Edit

Mamoru as the new governor of the Meiyoko district renamed it as Mamoru district. Many of the local residents knew and trusted Mamoru, lending him support, as the famed swordsmith Toshiyori, who had aided in arming and training the district guards, as well as clearing and filling the old ruins of Yogo Tenari's Estate, and using them as a military staging ground. Mamoru also completed the Makoto Wall, which only gave his district an open border to the Higshikawa district. Soshi Saru was appointed as his hatamoto. [5] He spent his entire term repaying his criminal associates for their help, acting as their puppet. [4]
