Yari was named after his father, as his father to his father, an ashigaru who mastered the yari. His eldest son was named after himself. [1]
Crane[]
His father was a doshin who protected his village from bandits. During an attack of a ronin gang the local doshin managed to defeat them without any casualty using a dance of yari as an unpassable wall for the assailants. A group of Daidoji had seen the unmatchable practice of this ashigaru, and Yari was elevated to samurai status as Daidoji Yari. Within the year Daidoji Yari became a sensei at the Daidoji Training Grounds, teaching young Daidoji Bushi in the art of Yarijutsu. [1]
