Ujina Torid-e, also known as Shiro Meidochi, was a small building barely deserved to be called a keep, but the largest building in the small farming village of Meidochi. It was the dojo of the Ujina Skirmishers school, [1] which was only slightly larger than the peasant buildings. [2]
Training[]
The dojo provided private training for its warriors in the arts of quick and deadly confrontation. The Ujina were trained with all manner of knife-sized weapons, including not only the tanto and aiguchi, but jitte, sai, broken-off versions of larger weapons, and a number of improvised weapons. The primary form of dueling taught there was that of knife fighting. They later were moved on to circumstantial combat. [3]
