Tsuruchi Kinuyo was a Bounty Hunter of the Mantis Clan.

Nickname Edit

Kinuyo was called "Kigakikubachi," for she was always the last to release her arrow. [1]

Winter Court, 1199 Edit

Kinuyo missed an eye, lacked social grace, and was utterly unequipped for politics. In 1199 the 20 year old samurai-ko attended Imperial Winter Court at Toshi Ranbo. The rustic young girl made friends both high and low, secured allies, and left the court stronger than she was at the start of the season. [2]

Friends Edit

Yoritomo Rumi saw potential in Kinuyo and sponsored her for the Bowman's Wager. Hida Tadama struck up a friendship with Kinuyo and became a mentor for her. Tonbo Inuyama gave her spiritual guidance. Ikoma Masaru went from rival, to uneasy friend, and ultimately to an ally. Heichi Tochiko, Kitsune Makiko, and Seppun Yukiko, among many others, impacted Kinuyo in significant ways. [2]

The Devil's Chase Edit

During the courtly event known as the Devil's Chase, a traditional ending to the Winter Court, in which a procession of priests was led through the Palace by the Devil Chaser, a priest bearing ancient artifacts and performing ceremonial song and dance, Iweko Miaka's yojimbo, Seppun Asagako, revealed to have been replaced by an oni. [3] The demon rampaged through several district of the Imperial City, until it was eventually destroyed. [4] Kinuyo landed a devastating blow against the shapeshifting Kommei no Oni with a jade arrowhead which had been gifted days before by Hida Tadama. The Bounty Hunter was elected to lead a force of samurai against the bloodspeaker who summoned the Kommei no Oni. [2]

Rise of Jigoku Edit

In 1200 in the Month of the Dog, Kinuyo, Hida Tadama, Daidoji Sakuzou, Isawa Hibana, Ikoma Masaru, Tonbo Inuyama, Kuni Sango and Shosuro Yoshiyuki found evidences of an impeding Spider attack near Cold Wind City. The village was evacuated before the Battle of the Second Seal began. [5]

Chasing an Oni Summoner Edit

Sakuzou and Kinuyo met the Daidoji Daimyo Daidoji Akeha, requesting her support in finding the man who summoned an oni in the middle of the last imperial Winter Court at Toshi Ranbo. Akeha could not spare anyone because she had organized an army to confront an impeding invading Spider army. [5]

Destruction of the Mantis Edit

This year the Mantis Islands were overrun by a Shadowlands horde that appeared after the destruction of the Third Seal, killing the Mantis Clan Champion Yoritomo Hiromi and his siblings. At Cold Wind City Kinuyo was ordered by her daimyo Tsuruchi Fusako to gather any Tsuruchi in the mainland, joining the other Mantis families to make a suicidal attempt to take back their homeland.
