People

Yotogi was granted Toritaka Province by the Emperor in 834 after his father, the ashigaru spearman, Hayabusa, [1] saved the Emperor from a supposed ninja assassin [2] at Tasogare Mura. Yotogi quickly uncovered the nature of the assassin, a peasant maddened by the possession of an evil spirit, leading to the Falcon Clan finding their meaning in life. [3] He took the name Toritaka Yotogi. [4]

Falcon Clan Edit

Yotogi was described as a great bird that swooped in and cut down the vicious killer with his mighty claws. From that day the clan was known for the bird's name he depicted, the falcon. [3]

Seeking Guidance Edit

After he knew his father's killer Yotogi sat within a temple to Fukurokujin and meditated during seventy-three days. He left the building wearing a simple kimono and carrying a naginata. Yotogi married and began to train his clan in the arts of meditation. Every Daimyo would take the title "The Yotogi", as symbolic of his vigil. [3] Yotogi had learned of the power of a name and part of the connection between names and the Celestial Order. [2]
