The Mouth was a large open area warehouse, housing massive amounts of raw material for the city's ongoing construction effort. The vast majority of all buildings and improvements in the Colonies were built with materials that had passed through the Mouth, as it was the only place in the Colonies that raw materials could be safely and reliably worked. [1] It was the main entrance of the Peasant District in the Second City, [2] and the gate to the Mouth was constructed by the Kaiu for both durability and swiftness of movement. [3]
