The Master

From L5r: Legend of the Five Rings

Though his name is not mentioned, the Master was sensei to Isawa Ujina and was instrumental in helping the man realize that his wife was an imposter created by the Lying Darkness. He retired and named Ujina as his successor the day after Ujina defeated the creature that had become his wife.
