Tessen (otokodate)

The Tessen are an otokodate who attempt to keep the peace in Toshi Ranbo wo Shien Shite Reigisaho. Because those not of the Crane Clan are forbidden to draw katana in the city, the Tessen wield paired tessen, as these are not bound by the law.

The Tessen serve as bodyguards and escorts to heimin. The Crane of the city treat them like criminals, even though (and possibly because) the Tessen are mostly dismissed Crane and Lion Clan samurai. (Wolf p. 54-55)
