Temples of the Thousand Fortunes

The Temples of the Thousand Fortunes are technically a part of the Brotherhood of Shinsei, but in actuality a large network of shrines that are more devoted to to the individual Fortunes than studying the Tao. The network is dominated by the seven largest temples, which have shrines to each of the Seven Fortunes. They are scattered throughout the Empire and beyond them lies a network of hundreds of small shrines and temples. Every province in Rokugan has at least one such temple within their border. The doctrines of each temple vary depending on which fortune or fortunes they worship there. The monks believe that the fortunes do not coddle mortals, but rather bestow blessings upon those they deem worthy. (3E p. 252)

The primary teachings and devtion of the Temples of the Thousand Fortunes are the Fortunes, but things such as juijutsu, history and other lores are also taught. (3E p. 252)
