Sojo was the Rokugani word which designated those head monks of a monastery. In the monastic hierarchy they were above initiates, rishi, and sozu and only below Dai-sojo. They wore purple over-robe to show their status. [1] [2]

Temple Keepers had a great deal of influence and responsibility within the Brotherhood of Shinsei. They were given domain over their own temple or had become the leader of a religious sect. His duty maintained good relations between the clergy and lay people. Research, both mystical and mundane, was also the Keeper's duty. [3]
