The rank of Taisa designated the captain of a legion, under the command of a shireikan.

Rank Edit

A taisa led five chui and their troops, or approximately 5,000 soldiers or cavalry. Unit size varied for armies of the period. Taisa were often the sons or daughters of daimyos, put in that position because of their status rather than their experience. [1]

Naga Edit

The Naga called prayatna to their captains, which commanded five sparsa and their warriors. [2]
