The Tail's Reach was a kata of the Scorpion Clan taught by the Bayushi Bushi school. This exercise reinforced surprise, as most commonly opponents were surprised by striking before they were ready. The kata emphasized quick, flashy attacks that both took advantage of a surprise attack and kept the opponent on the defensive. [1]
