Taikai was a Rokugani term for a contest in which bushi perfomed kata to see whose form was the most perfect. The original taikai was created by the Lion as a way of showcasing the students' reverence for their Clan's martial traditions. [1]
Contest[]
A typical taikai consisted of three rounds, in which the competitors took turns performing a kata of their choice. The contestant who won the Judges' favor in two of three rounds won the match. [2]
