Sugi was a blend of spiced apple and pear brandy created by Yasuki Kome in the village of Mimura. By fermenting the brandy in a cedar cask and only brewing a small amount at a time, he was able to create a special flavor of brandy that could not be found anywhere else. There was a long waiting list of nobles eager to try it. [1]
