AEG Meta Edit

The Striking as Water kata focused on pure strength, bringing the power of Water to bear while sacrificing precision. The nature of this kata however lent little benefit to bladed weapons, and was taught primarily in schools which taught the use of bludgeoning weapons. [1] [2]

FFG Meta Edit

The Striking as Water kata taught a bushi that the finest armor was useless if a warrior could bypass it, slipping a blade through the gaps that allowed the wearer to move or using blunt, concussive force to create a vulnerability. As the bushi strikes they attempted to slide past the target's defenses to deliver a lethal blow. [3]
