Spirit Binding involved the summoning of a kami to enact feats of magic on the behalf of the shugenja, speaking to the same kami time and again, which required immense patience and power. [1]

History Edit

The Agasha were the first to study this art, but after the defection of the Agasha were the Tamori who followed the research, [1] being the Tamori Yamabushi who mastered this knowledge. [2]

Controversy Edit

Many mistaken Spirit Binding as a form of slavery, where the shugenja enforced his rule over a single kami and yoked them to his will. The relationship was completely voluntary, so the Spirit Binder's power flowed through the kami as an honored friend. [1]
