Sode was the Rokugani word for the shoulder guards of an armor. [1] They were large, rectangular plates of lamellar armor made from copper, bronze, iron, or rarely from laminated wood. Often painted or decorated, it was one of the most iconic parts of a samurai's armor. [2]
