Shilah

Shilah is one of the main deities of the Burning Sands, she is also called , the All-Merciful, the All-Knowing, and Life-Giving Lady Sun, or the Forgiving Lady. Her cosmological role is roughly equivalent to Rokugan's Amaterasu or, more recently, Yakamo.

There are however differences. Where Amaterasu is commonly considered a benign entity, Shilah is considered a more fickle deity. It is said that she created the desert known as the Burning Sands during her Day of Wrath. From that event, the only river that survived in the land was the Nahr'umar, and for that reason the inhabitants of the Burning Sands invoke her mercy with each mention of her name, so they do not draw her wrath once again. Also unlike Amaterasu, Shilah never killed herself in 1132, and continues to reign until this day.
