Pine trees were evergreen trees, very common throughout Rokugan. The Isawa Mori in the Phoenix lands was the largest source of pine in the Empire. [1] They were a symbol of longevity and stamina, and were one of three plants in Rokugan known as Winter's Three Companions because it was capable of surviving through the winter. [2] Bonsai pine trees represented fidelity and patience for the Dragon Clan, because the word for “pine” was a homophone for the verb “to wait”. [3]
