Panchu Mura was one of the few villages south of Toshi no Naishou, capital of the Naishou Province, yet still within the border of the province. A sake brewery was established in the farming town, as the province saw an influx of samurai in the late 12th century. Panchu Mura acquired a reputation as a cheap getaway, attracting poor and dishonorable sort of samurai. Another brewery, two gambling houses, and a brothel also followed, while the local temple to the Fortune of Soil fell into disrepair. [1]
