Otomo Teruken was a courtier of the Imperial Families. A talented orator, he was considered a danger by any in attendance of the Imperial Court at Toshi Ranbo. In 1198 he was murdered by the Scorpion Clan Champion Bayushi Nitoshi, who the next day took advantage of Teruken's absency to deny support to the last proposal made in court by Teruken. His death was blamed on a ronin, who was then executed. [1]
