Otomo Nishige was a courtier of the Imperial families, granduncle to the siblings Otomo Takama, Otomo Moritaka, and the Imperial Governor of the Colonies Otomo Suikihime, who appointed him as her advisor in the Ivory Court. [1]

Otosan Uchi[]

Born during the War of Spirits, Nishige grew up in the Imperial district of Otosan Uchi, where his parents directly served the Emperor Toturi I. Nishige was merely adequate in the course of his duties, so he would become a minor functionary. [2]

Fall of Otosan Uchi[]

In 1159 Nishige was twenty-two years old when he fled with his betrothed from the Imperial City, due to the invasion by Daigotsu while his parents died. After the Fall of Otosan Uchi he moved to the new capital, Toshi Ranbo, where he reborn as new man, a man of stoic determination. [2]

Toshi Ranbo[]

Nishige became a prominent diplomat, overseeing the reorganization of the Otomo family. He was among those who accepted the proposal of Doji Tanitsu to rebuild Kyuden Otomo in the Crane lands. Nishige became a powerful man with countless allies under the reign of Toturi III. He eventually became an honored sensei within the dojo of the Otomo. [2]

Age of the Conquest[]

Even after the Empress Iweko I decreed legalizing the Spider Clan, Nishige never forgave the descendants of the Lost for what they did to Otosan Uchi. Soshi Yoshihara sent him a letter saying that his grandniece, Otomo Suikihime, had become the Imperial Governor of the Colonies, and also told that she had learned under the sensei Otomo M'rika, a former member of the Spider Clan. Nishige decided he would travel to the Colonies and become an advisor to his grand-niece, undoing whatever damage M'rika had inflicted upon her. Suikihime saw his traditionalist ways as out-of-place in the Second City, and she did not seek his advice. [3]

Siege of the Second City[]

During the Siege of the Second City he counseled to have more contact with the Imperial Legion leaders, but his niece did not follow his advice. [4]
