Moto Kyung-won married into the Isawa as Isawa Kyung-won, but he eventually left the Phoenix Clan, and returned to the Unicorn Clan.

Spiritual Threat to the Empire[]

Moto Kyung-won married with Isawa Nairuko, joining her wife's family. In 1199 she found a spiritual threat to the Empire, the Moto family had a curse in their bloodline. Anyone of Moto blood drew ill fortune, which they passed to the descendant they bore with the members of other families. Once the notice was spread the Unicorn considered it a Phoenix insult, and Kyung-won left her behind, rejoining the clan of his birth. [1]

Way to Heal the Curse[]

In 1200 Kyung-Won was the right-hand man of Moto Tadasu, Shireikan of the Khol, and leader of the Unicorn army which invaded the Phoenix lands. They retreated to the Treacherous Pass, seized Orange Flame Village which gave them control of the area, and received reinforcements from Kintani Valley. Tadasu was warned by Iuchi Karuri that the Moto Curse had reached him, but she was dismissed. The shugenja-ko gifted a golden fan to Kyung-won, advising him to return with her Phoenix wife. Shortly after both armies clashed in the Battle of Treacherous Pass, and the misfortune chased the Unicorn leader, who eventually lost a duel to first blood with the enemy general, Shiba Kakei. The Unicorn accepted the terms for peace issued by the Master of Fire Isawa Koiso: no Moto might marry out of their Clan without approval from the Phoenix, so only the Phoenix might officiate Unicorn marriages henceforth, and they accepted a massive scroll with a way to defeat the Moto Curse, a way of living that might free the Moto of their karma. The terms of peace had been presented by his former wife, who left the battlefield shortly after. [2]
