Moto Clan

Desert Moto

The part of the Moto Clan not directly affiliated to the Unicorn Clan was a group of nomads, originally ethnic Ujik-hai. [1] They were known as the Desert Moto by their Rokugani cousins. [2]

Creation[]

The Moto Clan were the Ujik-hai who remained in the Burning Sands after the Ki-Rin Clan departed with the Moto family, after the group was separated in the Battle with the Rocs. The rest of Ujik-hai who had remained apart of the Ki-rin would be known as the Ra'Shari in modern times. [3] [4]

Moto Oasis[]

They continued their life as raiders, striking at caravans from the hidden Moto Oasis in the Burning Sands, [5] somewhere between the Unicorn lands and the city of Medinaat al-Salaam. [citation needed]

Raiders[]

The Moto usually raided the trade caravans of Medinaat al-Salaam, so they were at odds with the Caliphate. [6] They had wandered the wastes for a thousand years, living on the outskirts of the Jewel of the Desert, preying upon the weak and dying. [7] Since the coronation of the Caliph Hanan Talibah and the inception of her sorcerous warriors, the Khadi, the Moto had not been welcomed in Medinaat al-Salaam. The Houses of Dahab offered bounties on their heads, and hired armies to protect their merchant caravans, which turned even the most pacifistic tribes of the Ivory Kingdoms against them. [8]

Moto-Senpet War[]

In the 12th century following a prophecy the Moto challenged the Caliph Hanan's control over Medinaat al-Salaam, [9] and the Moto-Senpet War began [10] when the Senpet, allied with the Caliph [11] attacked. Their first engagement was indecisive, but the Senpet learned much of the Moto methods and tactics. [12] The Moto became the prey and the armies of the Senpet Pharaoh hunted down the nomads. [7] The Moto Oasis was attacked and the wells were poisoned. [13]

Moto in Middle 12th century[]

There were still a few scattered tribes of Moto in the Burning Sands, but these groups were pale shadows of true Moto. They were mostly scavengers, outcasts, and raiders with little honor. They sometimes served as scouts for Unicorn merchants traveling the vast desert. [14]

Schools[]

The following are the basic Schools within the Moto Clan:
