|Please note: This article is about the shugenja founder of the Sisters of Sacred Light. For other uses of the term, please see Himiko (disambiguation).|
Himiko lived in the 5th century, a young shugenja-ko who developed from Isawa knowledge how Amaterasu's pure light could see through illusions, as well as how to soothe any kami who had been disrupted by trickster spirits. The secluded shrines of the Centipede Clan attracted trickster spirits, especially Mujina, who relished deceit and illusion. Himiko's technique forced the Mujina to seek other targets.
Founding the Sisters of Sacred Light Edit
In the wake of her success, Moshi Himiko, by then a considerably older woman, presented her discoveries to the Emperor. The Master of Fire, Isawa Akio, was offended by Himiko when she refused teach it to him, so it could not pass to the Isawa Shugenja school for further improvement. Himiko explained that her technique required a purity and ritual piety found only among women who had dedicated themselves completely to Amaterasu. Akio challenged her to Taryu-jiai, but the Master of Fire was defeated in the duel of magical prowes. The Emperor bestowed official recognition on the order of the Sisters of Sacred Light.
