Matsu Mochihime

Matsu Mochihime was a samurai of the Lion Clan who legend has it that one of the first ronin. The Legend goes that after the Gozoku victory over Hantei Fujiwa, she strode into the Imperial Court, threw her haori to the floor turned to the Emperor and his court with a scowl,
"I am Mochihime," she spat. "I may no longer be Matsu. I may no longer be a Lion. But I am, and will always be, a samurai. When you wish to have my daisho you can pry it from my dead fingers."
Legend also has it that Mochihime continued to follow the secret commands of Fujiwa with a band of ronin to pave the path for Fujiwa's daughter, Hantei Yugozohime.
The Ikoma document a ronin named Mochiko who did exist in the time of Empress Yugozohime’s reign. Yugozohime demanded that the Lion grant Mochiko fealty. Matsu Mochiko won the Test of the Emerald Champion after Yugozohime’s consort, Doji Usan, turned down the position. (Wolf p. 25-27)
