Trade Skills is a skill group of those skills most commonly practiced by occupants of the bottom tiers of Rokugan's stratified society. While most are necessary to the Empire's survival, samurai generally look down upon these skills, or at least view them as matters to be handled by menial laborers. Trade skills allow characters to procure resources from their environment and perform work. [1] However, using these skills openly in the company of characters of higher status, opens the samurai up to gossip and criticism concerning why they feel the need to possess or flaunt such pedestrian expertise.
