Nemuranai

The Mempo of Void was one of the Elemental Nemuranai created by Iuchi Yogosha and Asako Shingon in 1127 during the Clan War, with the guidance of the Oracles of Light. It contained the life force of its crafters, because the nemuranai was finalized with their deaths. [1] [2] [3]

Appearance Edit

The Mempo seemed to be made of an unnatural black-colored viscid substance that constantly changed in form, sticking to its wearer, covering his entire face save for the eyes. [2]

Powers Edit

Mempo of Void

The deaths of its crafters connected the Mempo to the Void and the mortal world. [4] When the Mempo was worn the wearer was immune to spells or powers which could control their mind. The wearer could also see invisible objects or beings, and readily discerned those who were under spell effects or who were favored by the kami. [2]

History Edit

Crafting Edit

For months Yogosha and Shingon sought out the perfect location for each Elemental Weapon to be crafted. [5] They found the correct place in a valley near the Castle of the Faithful Bride. [6] For days, Shingon coaxed the kami to occupy the item, slowly infusing it with the essence of an element. Then Yogosha would use his knowledge of Meishodo to erode the object's true name while Shingon contained the kami. The two worked in tandem to craft a katana, a set of armor, a gunsen, a yari, and the last, a mempo, the one of the Void element. [7]

Crafter's Death Edit

To finish the creation of the Mempor of the Void, they both concluded they would have to give their lives. With that sacrifice the balance was restored between dark, the Elemental Terrors, and light, the Elemental Nemuranai. [3] [6]

We give our lives that this final task might be completed. Our spirits join with the Void contained within it, giving it form. It is a good death.
-Asako Shingon and Iuchi Hogosha [7]

Resting Place Edit

After Yogosha passed away the Mempo, the Armor of Earth, and Yogosha's scrolls rested at Daikoku Seido, in the Unicorn lands. The Dark Oracles sent two of the terrors, Akeru no Oni and Kaze no Oni, to destroy the shrine and artifacts. The oni were defeated by a group of samurai who were investigation the appearance of the nemuranai in the mortal world. [8]

Delivered Edit

Kitsu Motso was it first wearer. After Motso fell in battle during the War of Spirits the Mempo was lost. [2]
