Matsu Zaruko
From L5r: Legend of the Five Rings
Matsu Zaruko became the first non-Akodo Lion Clan Champion after the previous Champion, Akodo Kurojin, was killed alongside Empress Hantei Yugozohime during the Battle of White Stag.[citation needed]
[edit] Koritome Vassal Family
Not long after the Battle of the White Stag, the gaijin sent an ambassador do parley with the new Emperor Hantei Muhaki. The ambassador claimed they wished to leave without further bloodshed, and requested supplies to aid them on their voyage. Muhaki agreed to meet with the gaijin, but the meeting was a trap. Muhaki's life was only saved due to the skill of the master archer Matsu Koritome, but Koritome himself was killed. Muhaki declared an archery tournament to be held in Koritome's honor, and after two days there were over two-hundred Lion still competing. Zaruko was so impressed that she formed the Koritome vassal family, and made the two hundred it's first members.[1]
