Matsu Sodohime
Born: Unknown
Died: Unknown
Parents: Un-named Matsu Daimyo
Spouse: Akodo Daio
Children: Akodo Toturi,
Akodo Arasou

Matsu Sodohime, daughter of the Matsu Daimyo, [1] was married to Akodo Daio, and mother of Akodo Toturi and Akodo Arasou. She was the first Matsu to be married to an Akodo, which were traditionally not allowed to marry due to concern over strife such a union would cause. To circumvent the prohibition Daio changed his name to Matsu Daio, and the male children would be raised as Akodo. [2] The Matsu, expecting the first child of the couple to be a daughter, immediately turned upon the boy with suspicion, guessing he would clearly be a weakling and a failure. [3]

Sources Conflict
The sources relating to this article are in conflict with each other.
In Way of the Unicorn, page 16, Akodo Toturi's mother's name is given as Matsu Kojike, but in Way of the Lion, page 64, it is given as Matsu Sodohime. Despite the precedence of Way of the Unicorn, it is assumed that the name in Way of the Lion is correct, because of the closer connection between the subject of the book and the subject in question.
