Matsu Kyoda was a Matsu Daimyo who married Osano-Wo and mother of the Mantis Clan founder, Kaimetsu-Uo. [1] [2]

Married Edit

Kyoda was a commander of the Lion's Pride, [3] who was selected to marry Osano-Wo in the year 65. [4] Nine months later, two children were born on the same day, Kyoda's son, Kaimetsu-Uo and the son of a peasant who Osano-Wo formally acknowledged as his own. The boy was brought to Kyuden Hida to be raised with his Lion half-brother. [5]

Leaving the Crab Edit

When in the year 80 the heir to the Crab was decided, [4] it was the son of the peasant, Hida Kenzan, who was given the Crab Clan sword. [5] In a rage, Kyoda cut off her hair, took her son away from the Crab lands to begin a life of their own. [6]

Mantis islands Edit

They traveled across the wide waters of the Crane bay, to a distant island chain known only as the Islands of Silk and Spice[6] in the year 79. [7]

Doji Barahime Edit

Centuries later, Barahime of the Doji family commented that the Mantis Clan was founded in part because Kyoda lacked propriety. [6] [8]
