Mara was the name of a Naga who saved the son of Kaiu Sudaro in the Shinomen Mori in 200. This incident was the first recorded mention of the Naga in Rokugani history. It caused the Naga to quickly become integrated into myths and legends. (3E p. 11)

Because of the prolonged lifespan of Naga in their slumber, it is possible -- though not certain -- that this is the same Mara who eventually married Mirumoto Daini.
