Kou was a blacksmithy worker of the village of Aian, in the Naishou Province. He was murdered by Bloodspeakers with a maho spell on the same night when the headman Shidou, his wife, and his daughter all disappeared together. During the fight with the cultists Kou tore a strap of cloth from one of his murderers, Yuri. His body was found covered in strange burn marks, as though his whole body was bathed in flame at once. A cloth of one of the murderers was found with him. His remains were incinerated, after a group of samurai visitors began to investigate the crime. They exposed a Bloodspeaker cell and Among the cultists was found one of the supposed friends of Kou, Nigai the laborer.
