People

Kokujin Akae was a tainted Tattooed Monk of the Spider Clan.

Kokujin's follower Edit

She became a disciple of the Prophet of the Dark Lotus, Kokujin, and spread the revolution in the lower castes of Rokugan, [1] and a member of the Spider Clan. [2]

After Kokujin Edit

Akae lived on the road ever since the death of Kokujin in 1169. [2] After the end of the Destroyer War in 1173 an Imperial edict elevated the Spider to the Great Clan status, but their tainted members were sent to the Colonies in the Spider's exodus. The Master of Jigoku, Daigotsu, in return, had made a bargain with the Empire to whithhold the taint. The people of Rokugan would be spared the Taint forever. Only those who willingly embraced the blessings of Jigoku could become tainted. [3] Akae did not join them and roamed Rokugan avoiding inquisitors and magistrates. [2]

Riko Edit

There were still people who chose to drift rather than trust in some cold-eyed lord's protection. Akae took a peasant girl, Riko, as her favored student. Riko was taught during years. She learned the points on the body where she could disrupt the flow of chi, and practiced killing techniques with people they met in their journey. [2]

Revolution and Death Edit

Akae followed the path of her master, to teach the weak and use them as expendables. When she would do it again in a Lion village not far from the Dragon border, Riko retorted. She told many farmers would die, but the samurai would live. The peasant told the lower caste could be tought in several generations, but Akae sought bloodshed in shorter terms, urged by the taint. Riko killed her master to follow her own path to revolution. [2]
