Nanbu Kochoko

Nanbu Kochoko, born Nanbu Kochohime, is the daughter of Tzurui and Iuchi Ochiyo. Kochohime's mother was very sick when she gave birth, which caused Ochiyo's death. Tzurui pledged his life to Kochohime, which caused him to dishonor himself in a battle by failing to protect his master.^[1]

From that point on, Kochohime was cared for by monks while her father battled to regain his honor, but also to have the girl kept safe when the family was dissolved. Her time with the monks taught her patience. She was recalled by her father once he found a safe home among the Monkey Clan, and raised among the strange wisdom of thet minor Clan. In 1132, when the Scorpion Clan was restored, she was called to take the position of Nanbu family daimyo and returned to the Soshi provinces.

She has few ambitions outside of protecting her fledgling family, and her greatest desire is to see her family's holdings restored and made fertile again. Although she would never admit it, she harbors a slight grudge against her clan for abandoning her family during the Coup, and it is for this reason that she keeps abreast of goings-on within the Scorpion Clan.^[2]
