Kary-kai was the Rokugani term for the elegant, high-culture world that geisha were a part. [1] The “World of Flowers and Willows” was formed by the maiko, or apprentice geisha, who were said to be the flowers, valued for their beauty but not much else. The geisha themselves were the willows: graceful, strong, and mysterious. [2]
