Daimyo: Kakita Yoshi

The Kakita were a family of the Crane Clan [1] and Kyūden Kakita was its seat of power. [2]

Founding[]

The family was named after Kakita - Doji's husband and the first Emerald Champion. They crafted music, poetry, paintings, and sculptures of breathtaking beauty, yet the ultimate expression of Kakita achievement was the iaijutsu dueling strike of the katana. [3] The Kakita embodied the clan's spirit and pride, earning it glory and wealth with their good works while embracing whatever adventures come their way. [4]

Within the Family[]

Duty[]

The graceful and athletic Kakita tended to focus on a single skill, such as the art of the sword or of the brush. [5]

Mom[]

The Kakita mon was a white crane, cradling a drawn sword with its wing. [6]

Emerald Champions[]

More Emerald Champions had been Kakita than any other family. [7] The Matsu family never forgot the slight Kakita offered their founder Matsu at the first Emerald Championship. [6]

Arts[]

They Kakita were well-known for the grand adventures of their heroes, but also for their artisans and dueling traditions. They were the family most devoted to the arts. The Kakita Academy was the most prestigious art school in the Empire. [6] The biwa was the favorite musical instrument of the Kakita. [8]
