Isawa Tamaki
Isawa Tamaki was a void shugenja and Ishiken of the Phoenix Clan. He lived in the late twelfth, early thirteenth century. [1]

Right to Avenge the Phoenix Honor
The simple investigation of an Asako Inquisitor, Asako Moeru, forced upon those who guarded the Second Festering Pit against their wishes, led to a terrible tragedy near the Scorpion Wall. Complete Moeru's entourage was murdered [2] and their deaths blamed on Haruno no Oni. [3] In 1190 Tamaki led the Phoenix delegation who issued a complaint in the Imperial Court, alongside the only survivor, Shiba Jikaro, who had left the Scorpion lands before the attack. Tamaki petitioned for the right to avenge their honor on the field of battle and the Empress Iweko I agreed. Tamori Sugi, the Dragon representative, stood with the Phoenix in this affair, as well as the Crane Clan. The Crab and the Lion Clans backed the Scorpion, represented by Bayushi Rentatsu. The War of the Twins had begun. [2]
Researching
Tamaki's father was a healer for the Phoenix armies during the War of the Twins, and she intended to follow his example of aiding in the defense of the clan. She would never use Void magic directly on another person, but she looked for ways of using it in battle. [4]
Fall of Shutai
In 1192 the Phoenix wiped out the village of Shutai, and Tamaki defended the honorability of the Fall of Shutai in front of the Imperial Court. [2]
