Isawa Eizan
Born: Unknown
Died: 1126
Spouse: Shiba Hirofumi
People

Isawa Eizan was an Emerald Magistrate and shugenja of the Phoenix Clan.

Emerald Legionnaire Edit

Eizan was short, fierce, and full of bluster shugenja who, for many years, had served in the Imperial Legions as yoriki to Isawa Tsuke, gaining reputations as tempestuous and merciless warriors. [1]

Married Edit

Eizan married to Shiba Hirofumi, a Shiba Tejina. He cared little for her, and soon Hirofumi hated his belligerent, abusive, and paranoid demeanor. [2]

Winter Court - 1126 Edit

In 1126 Eizan assisted to the Imperial Court at Kyuden Asako as hatamoto to Tsuke. They vowed to assist the Crane during the Lion-Crane War, which created tensions with the more peaceful Asako. [3]

Death Edit

While in his chambers at Kyuden Asako's third floor, his wife arrived, but instead her, the woman was Asako Miyo, the secret twin sister of his wife. Hirofumi had used her Tejina magic to change her face, allowing Miyo to pass the powerful Fire defensive wards planted by Eizan. Despite his tries to magically defend himself, Eizan was thrown though the window. [4] He was found dead and Tsuke investigated who was the murderer. [5]

Investigation Edit

Despite the efforts of magistrate Agasha Hisojo the evidences were weak, and no testimony appeared to confirm Miyo as the murderer. The twin sisters were questioned but both denied the charges. Hirofumi had been changed her features as her sister, so "Miyo" had been witnessed in the library at the time of the murder. [6]

Kuni Yori, True Culprit Edit

What no one of the investigators or the sisters knew was that Kuni Yori had summoned the shiyokai, the dream demons, to drive the Phoenix twins to murder. Eizan had been sacrificed to weaken the Phoenix, which would help the quest for power of Yori's Lord, Hida Kisada. [7]
