Hujokuko was the Fortune of Fertility, and she was considered to be a vassal of Benten. Hujokuko had few shrines, but was invoked by those who wished to bear children or who had had no success in beginning their own families. Hujokuko's adherents were almost invariably female. Nuns and shugenja-ko devoted specifically to Hujokuko were rare but extremely popular. [1] A large shrine devoted to Hujokuko laid just outside of the walls of Pale Oak Castle[2]
