Hotei's Spice was a spice extremely difficult to produce, hailed from a remote monastery devoted to Hotei, located deep in the mountains of Phoenix territory. The monks only sold two or three pouches on each New Year's Eve, making enough money to subsist for the rest of the year. [1]

When the spice was sprinkled upon food and eaten, it caused the meal to taste absolutely perfect. It caused the food to taste like what the eater wished the food to taste like. They were highly sought after by great chefs and gourmets, [1] specially among the Kakita Artisans. [2]
