Hida Shinmen was yojimbo to the Crab Clan Champion Hida Tekien, under the rule of Hantei Ningi. He became a peasant ronin Shinmenko by his Lord's orders. Thirty years later he was accepted back as Hida Shinmenko.

Kaze-do Edit

In their time the monk Togashi Kaze began to teach an unarmed fighting style, called Kaze-Do. Tekien ordered to Shinmen to learn everything about it, but Kaze refused to teach samurai. The Emperor knew of it, and it eventually brought Kaze to death. [1]

Peasant Edit

Tekien outcast Shinmen, and also made him a peasant, so his yojimbo could learn the new style. Shinmenko harvested rice, adn thirty years later returned to Kyuden Hida. He demonstrated the techniques, and was accepted back in the clan as Hida Shinmenko. [2]

Death Edit

Shinmenko trained bushi in the unarmed style, but when their students made a show of skill to the Emperor Hantei Bosai they soundly defeated a group of monks. Bosai was skeptical of jiujutsu's battlefield use and called for a fight against a captured troll, who quickly murdered one of the students. Shinmenko was granted permission for seppuku for his failure to learn the true techniques of Kaze-Do. Shinmenko had been taught in flawed techniques that worked in stylized form but not actual combat. [2]
