Hayasu city 2

Hayasu district

The Hayasu district was the western outer district of Otosan Uchi. It was named for its governor, Shinjo Hayasu. The district housed many wealthy merchants and artisans, being the most elaborate homes upon the steep hill which dominated the district center. [1] It was alson known as the Gilded Hill district. [2]

Scorpion Coup Edit

In 1123 during the Scorpion Coup the Hayasu district was not taken by the Scorpion in the first days of assault. [3] The retired samurai of the district coordinated a civilian militia in the third day, which attacked the Scorpion of the Hidari and Toyotomi district. They were quickly overrun by Soshi magic fire. [4] The district was liberated by the combined armies of the clans by dawn of the fifth day. [5]

After the Coup Edit

The Hayasu district was the less damaged of all districts. The new Emperor Hantei XXXIX ordered to build monuments alongside the Road of the Most High to honor the valient efforts of the citizenry. [4] The Hitobito Shimingun, the people's militia, was formed across the city to better defend it from another attack. [6]

Notable Locations Edit

The district was primarily a residential neighborhood for elite samurai, famous artisans, and wealthy merchants, with huge open spaces set aside for festivals. At the top of the hill was the huge estate of the district governor. [2]
