Hantei XV was the father of Hantei XVI, the Steel Chrysanthemum.

Emperor[]

Hantei XV was not an inspired or memorable Emperor. He took the throne in his mid-twenties and married Doji Kaoichihime, who bore the Emperor six children, four sons and two daughters. His wife was his trusted advisor, and helped him to be more than merely a figurehead during the early years of his reign. [1]

Events during his rule[]

Bayushi Anjo destroyed a rebellious monastery and erected a sign over the rubble that said “No quality of soul matters more than power” - a slogan that's appeared rarely on Bayushi war banners ever since. [2]

Heir[]

His eldest son, Otomo Toruo, died in a tragic accident at the age of seven. The first who arrived to the corpse was his second son, Otomo Okucheo, who seemed trying to revive his older brother. The Imperial Heir helped Hantei XV to implement changes and political strategies more sophisticated than any he could have devised on his own. [1]

Retirement[]

In 589, when Okucheo turned twenty, Hantei XV retired as Emperor and departed for a monastery in the Lion lands, [3] believing his honest, clever, and capable son would usher in a new age of prosperity for Rokugan. Unfortunately, this proved to not be the case. [4]

Death[]

In 597 Hantei XVI ordered the assassination of many Otomo with close blood ties to the Imperial line. The former Hantei XV supposedly died of an “unknown fever”. [5]
