Hantei Hochiahime was the fifth wife of Hantei XXXVIII. In 1111, she was kidnapped by Bloodspeakers along with the heir, Hantei Sotorii. The heir was saved by the mountain-dwelling ronin Yotsu. The Empress, pregnant with the second son of the Emperor, stayed behind so that Yotsu could escape. The Empire assumed she was sacrificed by the Bloodspeakers, but after they discovered she was pregnant they kept her alive long enough to give birth. Her son was raised among the bloodspeakers and later became Daigotsu. ^{[citation needed]}
