Please note: This article is about the Fortune. For other uses of the term, please see Hamanari (disambiguation).

Hamanari was the Fortune of Fish and Generous Meals. He was very popular in the village of Mimura due to the amount of fishing. A few shrines had been erected near riverbanks and bridges to honor Hamanari. There was no specific holiday to commemorate him. [1] A popular comedic figure in peasant culture was the lazy fisherman providing lip service to the Fortune while whiling away his time at the water's edge. [2]
