The God Beast of Kali-Ma had been a former gaijin goddess of the Ivory Kingdoms. She was defeated by Kali-Ma and enslaved to her will, becoming a God-beast transformed weapon.

Ruined Kingdoms[]

In 1170 [1] worshippers of Kali-Ma enacted a bloody ritual, where they willingly giving of their blood and flesh turning upon one another until only the strongest, and most horrible remained. The Ivory Kingdoms were put to the torch while Kali-Ma fought gods in the heavens. [2]

God-Beast[]

Fueled by Jigoku and being her faithful ruining theirs, the divines fell before Kali-Ma's power. One goddess remained alive with its form broken and its mind shattered. Kali-Ma changed her and the goddess became something else, the God-Beast, a impossibly gigantic creature. The few cities that remained within the realm were destroyed utterly by its power. [2]

Destroyer War[]

The God-Beast was unleashed upon Rokugan by Kali-Ma during the Destroyer War in 1172. [2] It destroyed Closed Pincer City [3] and headed toward Ryoko Owari Toshi, where the Empire armies had been gathered. The creature stopped and provoked a tremor, creating a massive chasm, from which it summoned serpentine creatures with heavily armored carapaces. The chasm-spawn attacked the Empire forces [4] in the month of the Monkey. [5]

Death[]

The Master of Void Isawa Kimi communed with the Void and reached the remnants of the former god inside the creature. Kimi could not undo what Kali-Ma did, but she could set her free. The God-Beast was weakened enough to  eventually be defeated by combined Rokugani efforts, after significant losses. [6]
