Geisha are women, and very occasionally men, who are paid to entertain others. The type of entertainment varies from establishment to establishment. Some offer geisha who can sing, dance or play instruments. Some offer mere companionship, while others offer a more sexual encounter. Attending a geisha house is not considered dishonorable, as long as it is kept discrete. Geisha are a part of the Hinin caste in Rokugan, although they are generally treated with more respect than other groups within their caste. [citation needed]
